Gender Tracker: Dashboard to Strengthen Protection of Women
September 25, 2026
There are efforts underway to develop a gender tracker that can keep track of online violence against women, including abuse through photographs and videos of women. These reforms will help improve reporting and address gender-based violence in Pakistan.
Digital Tools to Track Gender-Based Violence
The National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) is developing a special portal and dashboard that will give more information on violence against women. The national gender dashboard will analyze the status of women using 115 indicators, and work on the National Gender Equality Report is also underway.
Improved Complaint and Legal Support
At a meeting held under the chairmanship of Nafisa Shah, the NCSW Acting Chairperson Nooreen Bano announced that the commission has decided to conduct a baseline study in all four provinces in order to improve the complaint mechanism of the commission. Complaints can now be lodged more easily in Urdu, Sindhi, Pashto, Balochi, and other languages as well. The commission has suggested hiring female lawyers in all provinces.
One-Window Women Facilitation Centre
The proposed Women Facilitation Center is slated to be completed in 2027. It will incorporate facilities like those of NADRA, passports, health, counseling, and legal aid under one roof. Information from provincial police about cases involving crimes against women has also been sought by the authorities.
