According to Google, enhancing digital skills and adopting education technologies could add Rs. 2.8 trillion to Pakistan’s GDP by 2030. At the “Agay Barho: A Google for Pakistan” event in Islamabad, Google highlighted its commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s digital economy. A new report, “Agay Barho: Empowering Pakistan’s Digital Economy,” by Access Partnership, revealed that Pakistan’s IT services exports have grown 2.7 times since 2014, now making up 35% of service-sector exports.

 

Digital exports, including mobile apps, digital ads, and e-commerce, could add Rs. 1.8 trillion annually by 2030. The report emphasized the role of AI in driving these exports and creating new economic opportunities. Google’s country director, Farhan S. Qureshi, shared that Google’s AI-powered tools contributed Rs. 3.9 trillion to the Pakistani economy in 2023, while Google services supported over 960,000 jobs.

 

Additionally, Google launched various programs to enhance AI skills and support freelancers, including the “Career Kamyabi” initiative to reduce the employment gap for female graduates. Google’s efforts, in partnership with Tech Valley and NRTC, are expected to further accelerate Pakistan’s digital transformation.
