Google Launches Smart Schools Initiative in Islamabad

Google, in collaboration with Tech Valley, has announced a major educational initiative to open 50 smart schools in Islamabad, Pakistan. This effort is part of a broader plan discussed with the Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training aimed at revolutionizing Pakistan’s education sector.

These smart schools will be outfitted with 30,000 Google for Education IDs, providing AI-enhanced learning tools and digital resources designed to boost collaboration and productivity among students.

The initiative also includes a series of teacher workshops focused on Google’s educational tools, the establishment of a public Google Reference School, and job readiness training for 2,000 young people through Google Career Certificates. Additionally, there are plans to collaborate with the Ministry of Federal Education on an Edutech event.

Earlier initiatives by Google on International Women’s Day underscored its commitment to empowering women, with half of the Google Career Certificates program scholarships reserved for women, promoting equal economic opportunities and supporting their professional ambitions. In 2023, the program awarded 44,500 scholarships and plans to provide 45,000 more in 2024. Moreover, through the Google News Initiative, Google and its partners are enhancing journalistic opportunities for women, aiming to make newsrooms more accessible.
