Google To Integrate AI into Docs, Gmail

Several of Google’s most visible productivity products will soon feature generative AI. The technology powerhouse revealed on Tuesday that it will launch several new services later this year, including integrated AI in Google Documents and Gmail that can instantly create a draught or modify current content.

Also in the works: AI-generated graphics, audio, and video for Slides presentations, and automatic formula generation for Sheets, The Verge says. With the publicized success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT at the end of 2022, Google has come under pressure to speed up the use of AI technologies.

The vice president of products for Google Workspace; Johanna Voolich Wright, mentioned in a blog post:

“Whether you’re a busy HR professional who needs to create customized job descriptions, or a parent drafting the invitation for your child’s pirate-themed birthday party, Workspace saves you the time and effort of writing that first version,”. “Simply type a topic you’d like to write about, and a draft will instantly be generated for you.”

Using Google’s test, a user can enter “draft an email to the team” in a text box within an email. The software will generate a three-paragraph thank-you message that the user can edit, expand upon, or format as a list of bullet points. The application can be asked to attempt again by the user as well.

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian stated in a blog post:

“We’re so excited by the potential of generative AI, and the opportunities it will unlock”. According to Kurian, technology will transform how people connect with corporations and governments while also enabling people to express themselves.
