X, formerly known as Twitter, has enabled a setting that allows it to use user data to train its AI model, Grok. This setting, however, is only applicable to X Premium subscribers. If enabled, X can use users’ posts, interactions, and conversations with Grok to enhance the AI. Users can disable this feature, but it’s only possible through the web version of X.

 

To disable this setting, log in to X on a PC or laptop, go to the “Privacy and safety” section, find “Grok,” and uncheck the “Data Sharing” box. Users can also delete previous conversations with Grok after deactivating the data-sharing setting.

 

Elon Musk announced that xAI, X’s AI division, has begun training Grok with the world’s most powerful AI training cluster. Musk aims for Grok to become the most powerful AI by December 2024. X plans to use user data, including past tweets, to enhance Grok’s capabilities.

 

Other tech companies like Meta have also faced criticism for using user data to train AI models. Meta had to halt its plans due to regulatory concerns.
