IT Minister Emphasizes the Importance of Responsible Social Media Use

In a recent virtual meeting with the Asia Internet Coalition (AIC), which includes major digital media companies like Facebook, Google, and Apple, Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja stressed the critical need for responsible use of social media platforms. The discussion focused on various topics including digitalization, digital rights, and e-safety. 

 

Minister Khawaja highlighted ongoing efforts towards digital transformation in Pakistan, supported by the vision of the Prime Minister. She mentioned that a platform for Public-Private dialogue is expected to be introduced soon, and various policies are being developed to enhance digital skills among the youth. 

 

Additional Secretary MoITT Aisha Humera Moriani, Member IT Syed Junaid Imam, and Member Telecom Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim also participated in the meeting, underscoring the government’s commitment to fostering a safe and productive digital environment.


The meeting also outlined future initiatives aimed at furthering digital education and capacity building across Pakistan. Minister Khawaja announced that comprehensive steps are being taken to bolster the digital ecosystem, which includes enhancing access to digital tools and resources for young people. This is part of a broader government strategy to empower the youth by equipping them with the necessary skills to thrive in a digitally driven economy.
