IT Minister to Finalized New Social Media Rules by End of October

Syed Amin Ul Haque, the federal minister of information technology and telecommunication, stated on Wednesday that the social media guidelines would be completed by the end of October.

The minister told the media that a committee was established to study social media policies and that it has been instructed to deliver its report as soon as possible. He noted that the committee is made up of representatives from the Ministries of Law and Information Technology.

The minister added that a committee to investigate the use of tablets during the cabinet meeting has been formed by the IT Ministry. He continued by saying that the committee also included representatives from security agencies. The committee will check to see whether any information about cabinet sessions has leaked.

According to the minister, Tik Tok will soon open an office in Pakistan. The opening of an office in Pakistan would also be addressed during the meeting with the Facebook delegation, he continued, adding that a representative from Facebook will also visit Pakistan shortly.
