JazzCash has secured the prestigious ‘Pioneering Telco to Launch Tap on Phone’ award at the Mastercard Payment Leaders Awards during the Mastercard Edge 2024 event in Dubai. The award recognizes JazzCash’s innovative Tap Pay solution, which allows merchants to accept payments using only an NFC-enabled Android phone—eliminating the need for traditional PoS machines.

With over 350,000 merchants already onboard, JazzCash is reshaping Pakistan’s digital payments landscape. The platform, in partnership with Mastercard, aims to bridge the payment infrastructure gap in a country with only 125,593 PoS machines but over 50 million debit and credit cards.

Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, called the recognition a milestone in promoting a cashless economy and financial inclusion. The service, which processes over 100,000 micro-loans daily for MSMEs, is pivotal to Pakistan’s push toward a documented economy. JazzCash’s Tap Pay initiative underscores its commitment to digital growth, ensuring accessibility for both businesses and consumers.
