Meta Plans to Integrate Its Own ChatGPT into WhatsApp and Instagram

Meta has entered the AI chatbot arena, introducing its virtual assistant and a set of AI characters slated for integration into WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger. This versatile assistant can handle diverse tasks, from organizing group outings in chats to addressing typical search engine queries.

A notable feature of Meta AI is its ability to generate images, akin to Midjourney and OpenAI’s DALL-E, using a simple command like “/imagine.” It rapidly creates high-resolution images, a service offered to users free of charge.

In conjunction with the virtual assistant, Meta is launching an initial roster of 28 AI characters across its messaging applications, some inspired by celebrities such as Charli D’Amelio, Dwyane Wade, Kendall Jenner, MrBeast, Snoop Dogg, and Paris Hilton. These characters, along with their profiles, subtly come to life during conversations, enhancing the interactive experience.

While Meta AI currently doesn’t utilize public user data from Instagram and Facebook, integration of such data seems imminent. This advancement distinguishes it, allowing users to request specific content, like reels from a particular location.

The rollout of Meta’s AI to WhatsApp is already underway, with glimpses seen in the messenger’s beta version, indicating an imminent launch.
