Pakistan’s app development industry has experienced significant growth, with locally-made apps being downloaded 1.6 billion times globally in 2023. From 2018 to 2023, the country recorded a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 32% in global downloads, highlighting the increasing impact of Pakistani developers on the international stage.

Google continues to play a pivotal role in supporting Pakistan’s gaming and app development sector. The tech giant has launched new initiatives, including the Game Design Masterclass and Google Ads Academy, in major cities to further nurture this growth.

According to Access Partnership’s Economic Impact Report, Pakistan has the potential to generate an additional $6.6 billion annually by 2030 through digital exports, with the gaming and app sectors identified as key areas for growth. Despite a slight decline in overall app downloads in 2023, Pakistan’s app industry remains resilient, with in-app purchase (IAP) revenue increasing by 50%.

To further bolster the industry, Google has introduced several programs in 2024, including the Game Design Masterclass and Google Ads Academy, which provide developers with the skills and tools needed to create high-quality apps and games. These efforts are part of Google’s broader strategy to support the long-term growth of Pakistan’s app and gaming industry, which continues to attract global attention and investment.
