PTA Invites Religious Scholars to Discuss Safe & Responsible Use of Internet and Social Media

At PTA Headquarters in Islamabad, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) arranged a conference with well-known religious professors.

The PTA and religious leaders worked together to address the issues with social media and the internet and to promote a digital environment that respects cultural and spiritual values. This was demonstrated by the event that took place today.

The Web Analysis Division (WAD) PTA Director-General briefly summarized the PTA’s objectives in her welcoming message, which kicked off the program.

Maj General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, Chairman of PTA, gave a speech to the gathering and emphasized the critical role that religious scholars play in educating the public about moral and appropriate internet use. He stressed that there may be an even more significant impact if the professors support PTA with their platform.

A forum for active participation and discourse was established through an open-floor discussion and recommendation session. One of the meeting’s main points was how important it was to teach young people how to use social media and the internet responsibly, and how important it is for parents to educate their kids. The Holy Prophet Muhammad’s (SAWW) teachings and the Quran were emphasized as sources of guidance for this undertaking.

Acknowledging the seriousness of internet dangers including hate speech, blasphemy, and anti-state sentiment, it was stressed that the State, judiciary, PTA, PEMRA, FIA, and individuals must work together to confront these concerns.

The students informed the regulator of their complete cooperation and support while expressing gratitude for the PTA’s dedication to and efforts on behalf of safe and responsible internet usage. With this meeting, we will launch a series of joint activities with esteemed Ulemas to counteract offensive and illegal information on the internet.

Islamic scholars from a variety of philosophical backgrounds attended the meeting, including Maulana Tariq Jameel, Chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Dr. Qibla Ayaz, Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), and others. On this occasion, senior PTA officers were also in attendance.
