Punjab Govt Introduces Online Portal for Buying Eid Animals

The Punjab government has unveiled its first official online portal for purchasing sacrificial animals, offering a convenient way for citizens to buy animals for Eid-ul-Adha from home. This platform aligns with modern technological trends and provides detailed listings of animals, including images, age, weight, species, breed, and price.

Officials from the Punjab Cattle Market Management have assured the security of the portal, which requires ID card numbers from both buyers and sellers for transactions. The MET office has indicated that if Zilqad lasts 29 days, Zilhajj will start on June 8, with Eid-ul-Adha on June 17. If Zilqad extends to 30 days, Zilhajj will begin on June 9, with Eid on June 18. The final date will be announced by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

Eid-ul-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in devotion to God. Traditionally, the occasion involves the ritual slaughter of animals, with the meat shared among family and the less fortunate. The new portal aims to simplify this process for the faithful in Punjab.
