Punjab Introduces Satellite Internet in Educational Institutions

On Friday, Punjab launched a satellite internet initiative targeted at schools, inaugurated by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at DPS Model Town. This event also saw the presence of a UAE delegation led by Sheikh Ahmed Dalmouk Al Maktoum. The initiative, demonstrated at the DPS Digital Lab, is part of the government’s broader strategy to integrate digital technology into education, thereby narrowing the digital divide.

The memorandum of understanding signed during the event outlines the provision of satellite internet to numerous schools across Punjab, enhancing digital access, especially in remote areas. This collaboration, involving One Web, ADM Holding, and the Punjab government, aims to foster young talent and drive technological innovation within the region.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed her commitment to digital empowerment in Punjab, promising to equip students with laptops and consistent satellite internet access. The event was also attended by notable political figures such as Senator Pervez Rasheed and Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, highlighting the government’s dedication to this digital initiative.
