Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is well-known for its services in Pakistan. Recently, it has received about 1,200,000 complaints among which 134,000 were against the most widely recognized social media platform, Facebook. The complaints were directed at illegal content posted by certain accounts.
Due to all of these allegations, PTA blocked more than 1,135,000 IDs for their involvement in certain activities pointed against state institutions. Furthermore, more than 11 lakh IDs got blocked for displaying negative content on social media platforms.
In addition, 65,122 complaints got registered against posting immoral content on TikTok and 63,000 IDs were blocked by PTA after their analysis. After blocking 36,000 videos on YouTube and 31,860 accounts on Twitter, PTA took severe action for all the registered complaints.
In a conversation with Twitter, PTA stated that “Work is in progress for complete restoration of telecom services in flood-affected areas on top priority.” They further added that they have focused their efforts to restore the connectivity in flood-affected areas. And due to the continued struggle of the authority and telecom operators they have succeeded in reducing the non-functional site counts to 163.
