To Improve Pakistan’s Reputation In E-Commerce, The Moit Encourages Ethical And Legal Practices.

To establish Pakistan as a positive regional leader in e-commerce, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoIT) declared on Thursday that all users and enterprises in Pakistan must adopt ethical and legal behavior.

“Electronic Commerce is an emerging sector in Pakistan and the Government of Pakistan is taking various initiatives to strengthen the ecosystem for both domestic and cross-border e-Commerce,” a news release issued by the ministry said.

The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, and other applicable laws, which extend to the entire nation of Pakistan and apply to every citizen of the country wherever he may be, as well as to every other person for the time being in Pakistan, were further clarified in the statement. If found to be involved in fraudulent activities in domestic or cross-border e-commerce, any Pakistani firms, companies, or individuals would be dealt with strictly under these laws.

“It also applies to any act committed outside Pakistan by any person if the act constitutes an offense under the Laws of Pakistan and affects a person, property, information system, or data located in Pakistan,” it added.
