Zong, a leading telecom company in Pakistan, has expanded its 4G network in Gilgit Baltistan, launching 59 new commercial sites to enhance connectivity in the region. The launch event, held at Gilgit Serena Hotel on September 27, 2024, was attended by key officials such as Ghulam Muhammad, the Minister of Law and Tourism, and other dignitaries from the government and telecommunications sector.

Khawaja Shehzad Ullah, Zong’s Executive Director of Sales & Distribution, emphasized the importance of this expansion in boosting local communities, enhancing tourism, and supporting economic growth. The CEO of Zong, Huo Junli, praised the initiative for contributing to Pakistan’s digital transformation and strengthening the Belt and Road Initiative by improving communication and cross-border trade.

Zong’s collaboration with the Special Communications Organization (SCO) and Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) was highlighted as essential in making this expansion possible. This step underlines Zong’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and promoting inclusive connectivity across Pakistan.

With further expansion plans set for the future, Zong aims to support the region’s socio-economic development and contribute to Pakistan’s national digital agenda.
